HealthUp

A food delivery app that caters towards young, health-conscious individuals.

Project Context

Background

Through a summer internship program (IXperience), my team and I were tasked with creating a food delivery app that differs from current competitors. Because of the lack of representation of vegans and vegetarians in current delivery apps, we decided to create an app that specializes in healthy food choices.

Research

Competitive Analysis

In order to understand the competitive landscape, we identified key food delivery app competitors and analyzed user experience, studied features and functionality, and identified market trends.

We also conducted three user interviews from our biggest competitor, BeyondMenu, to identify pain points throughout the user flow. It is illustrated in this journey map:

The User

User Personas

We created a user persona for our target audience: college students, or health-conscious adults.

User Journey

In order to identify pain points and unmet user needs, we created a visual representation of how our users would interact with our app.

Design

Sketches

Each team member created rough sketches of each main screen. After a group feedback session, we moved forward with the best ideas.

Low-Fidelity Frames

We created the basic structures for each screen with inspiration from our sketches.

Final Frames

We turned the low fidelity frames into fully polished screens and added pathways between them to create a fully functional prototype.

Next Steps

Moving forward, our next steps is to conduct usability tests, collect feedback, and use those insights to refine our design. Some ways we could do this are through surveys, user interviews, or through more in-depth research. Additionally, we should look for alternative ways to differentiate ourselves from competitors, due to the crowded market.

Key Takeaways

Throughout the full research process, we realized the importance of user exploration and planning. By putting ourselves in the shoes of the user, we were able to add features, eliminate pain points, and create a design that catered to our target audience. Also, because this project was remote, we realized that clear communication and establishing specific roles for each team member were imperative to hitting deadlines.
